Birmingham Drag & Burlesque Festival presents:
Manly's Movement Masterclass with Manly Mannington
Elevate your Drag through movement and choreography. This workshop
is for those who have never performed as a Drag King but want to
learn how to build a persona through movement. This workshop is
also for beginner and intermediate Artists who want to explore
different ways to perform through the art of Drag Kinging.
This workshop will focus on:
-How to create a set/performance
-How to move your body in ways to create a
story/character/persona
-How to choreograph to music and utilising different movements to
portray your character to music
-Dancing
-Q+A
What to bring:
-Comfortable clothes or ACTIVE
WEAR
-Water
-you may attend in drag, but please
ensure this does not restrict you
-Comfortabel shoes, no black sole
footwear
ABOUT MANLY MANNINGTON:
"Manly is an International Drag King that has been performing as a
King for 9 years. He has been the curator and Producer of the Black
Excellence Cabaret, a Cabaret show that uplifts and highlights
Black and POC drag and cabaret artists.
Manly draws inspiration from Afrofuturism, Anime, and Comics
coinciding with his cultural heritage to create a unique experience
and representation of a Drag King. He is known as the shape
shifting King providing a variety of performances from Monster
Drag, Cosplay to being an overall boyband hearthrob. You'll never
know which version of Manly you'll get.
