Bookclub @ Cherry Reds — My Friends by Fredrik Backman

Bookclub – My Friends by Fredrik Backman (2025). Option to join downstairs for food from 18:00; the book discussion starts upstairs in the Map Room at 19:00. In My Friends we follow 17–18 year-old Luisa as she leaves foster care after Ted bequeaths her a painting, a story that pulses between present and past summers where art and friendship offer a way to transcend suffering. The Bookclub is open to all, both new readers and avid page-turners — sometimes we choose books with LGBTQIA+ themes, other times we approach wider classics through a queered prism. These events have a social focus, so prior reading is not essential. Cherry Reds is queer-friendly, just around the corner from New Street and the tram.
