A new LGBTQ+ bar for the Jewellery Quarter, and the first the city has gained in a while. The bar is free to walk into, open to everyone, no membership and no guest list — in the team's own words, "a vibrant, inclusive bar at the heart of our venue".
It's the ground floor of a new venue from the team behind Just For You, which has now closed.
The bar
Ground floor, free to walk into, no membership and no guest list. A licensed LGBTQ+ bar serving premium drinks — the sort of room you can turn up to on your own and not feel it. Thursdays are the standing fixture — the venue's weekly "Thirsty Thursdays", with discounted drinks for members, deals on signature cocktails and, in their words, "camp music and more".
That's the bar. Everywhere else in the building works differently: the men's spa and sauna upstairs are on a separate day pass, and you'll need to sign up on Yumbo's website for any area other than the bar. That side is covered in our Birmingham saunas guide.
Getting there
The bar is on Hockley Hill in the Jewellery Quarter, north-west of the centre — walkable from town, a few minutes in a cab from the Gay Village. Jewellery Quarter is the nearest station, on the tram and the Midland line.
