Eden has been part of Birmingham's Gay Village since 2008 — and it took three moves to land somewhere this good. It started out in the old White Swan up on Hurst Street, spent a stretch at Holloway Circus in the former Jester Club, and in 2025 settled into a converted former bank on Gooch Street. Ask anyone who knew the earlier Edens: this one is a different league. What the new building gives Eden is room to be several things at once — which is exactly what a good Village venue should be. What you'll find: Walk in and you're in the main bar — a proper room with a stage, where the drag and cabaret happen. Head back towards the terrace and there's a second bar the same size but a completely different mood — pool table, arcade machines, a photo booth, built for hanging out rather than facing front. Plenty of venues have a show room or a social room; Eden gives both equal billing, so the night is yours to shape. There are seated terraces on both floors for when you need air, and The Hub upstairs — a dedicated event space. And then there's the basement: the building's original bank vaults, kept for the after-dark club nights that want a darker, more private kind of room — nights like DILF. What's on: Eden is home to some of the city's biggest recurring queer nights. DILF brings a monthly gear and fetish party for queer men down into the vaults every third Saturday. Queer as Joke, Birmingham's original LGBTQ+ comedy night, runs a monthly bill of touring queer comedians up in The Hub. Around them, expect drag and cabaret through the week and big weekend club nights. Getting there: Eden Bar, 138 Gooch Street, B5 7HF — on the Southside edge of the Gay Village, a short walk from Hurst Street and New Street station. Opening hours: Wednesday 5pm–12:30am · Thursday 5–11pm · Friday 5pm–3am · Saturday 5pm–4am · Sunday 2pm–12:30am · closed Monday and Tuesday.

I would like a share a experience I had last Friday night. I've been regular at Eden bar from the day they opened, When visiting all three locations of Eden, I have never received bad customer service from the door staff, the bar team, Gary, Cal and Steve have all been extremely welcoming. I visited Eden last Friday I paid £4.95 for single Vodka and diet coke, I then went to another large venue up the road and paid a shocking £7.30 for the same drink that's a whopping 47% more expensive 😲 My point is yes Eden maybe a short walk from the main part of the gay Villiage but in my mind, the warm welcome, the amazing venue and the amazing priced drinks is definitely worth the four minute walk from heart of the gay Villiage. It would be unfair for me to name the other venue but I won't be going back.

Went into Eden for a private event on a sunday afternoon. Not visited Eden since it was in the pub at the end of Hurst Street!! We were using the bar upstairs, which was fairly big, and has an outdoor terrace apparently, though I didn't see that. Friendly bar staff. Video screen at one end, which someone hooked their phone up to for our 80s themed event.
